Kota Bharu’s market

This is a non corrected post. English is not my mother tongue, so please forgive me for all the orthographic and grammar mistakes. I will post a corrected version as soon as I can.

Of smiles and people.

Going to a food market is not always the first option you think while visiting a new place. Nevertheless, going to a market has a lot of advantages: you get to meet the locals and discover the type of food they eat.
Kota Bharu is mostly known for its culture and traditions:

But only going to the food market I got to discover the people and above all the local dishes like:

This market has the particularity that the fruits and vegetables section is in the centre of the building itself. It is kind of symbolic like saying that fruits and vegetables are in the centre of everything, like all important things.

But the best and most unforgettable element here is the people. Very friendly and are not bother to see the “weird tourist with the camera” like me. Some of them even asked me where I came from and also invited me to taste the local fruits while they showed me what they were selling. (I will let you guess what this is)

As far as I am concerned I stayed almost two hours inside walking around and talking to people like this seller who “posed” for his portrait.

People in Malaysia (in general) do not get bothered when you take a photo of them, but only if you ask permission first.

As one of my teachers in photography used to say: Do not forget that you do not “steal” a photography, you “take” it!

To get there

It is the building next to the central musk on Jalan Buluh Kubu
